Retraction Note to: British Journal of Cancer 10.1038/sj.bjc.6605793, published online 13 July 2010

The Editor-in-Chief has retracted this article. After publication, concerns were raised regarding high similarity between the western blot images presented in this article and the authors’ earlier publication [1]. Specifically:

  • Fig. 2B TS lanes 7–9 appear highly similar to Fig. 2C TS lanes 1–3 in [1];

  • Fig. 2B Actin 1–8 appear highly similar to Fig. 3C AKT blot in [1];

  • Fig. 3B Actin lanes 1–5 and 8–12 appear highly similar to Fig. 6 PC9/ZD and H1975 Actin, respectively, in [1];

  • Fig. 4B Actin lanes 1–5 and 8–12 appear highly similar to Fig. 6 PC9 and HCC827 Actin, respectively, in [1].

The Editor-in-Chief therefore no longer has confidence in the presented data.

I. Okamoto, S. Tsukioka and J. Uchida agree with this retraction. M. Kiniwa, M. Fukuoka and K. Nakagawa have not responded to any correspondence from the editor or publisher about this retraction. The publisher has been unable to obtain a current email address for K. Takezawa.
