Abstract
The Danish Schizophrenia Registry represents an important source for improving psychiatric care for patients with schizophrenia. The value of the registry lies in the collection of clinical data that are not otherwise available for comparison between regions and between hospitals. The registry has existed since 2003 and exists of approximately 20 clinical quality measures in relation to the following domains: diagnostic evaluation, cognitive evaluation, antipsychotic treatment including adverse reactions, cardiovascular risk factors including laboratory values, family intervention, psychoeducation, suicide risk in relation to discharge, and patient-reported outcomes. The presentation will give a brief overview of the registry, highlight examples of development of clinical quality measures as well as research on data from the registry, and how the registry has played a role in improving quality of treatment and care for patients with schizophrenia in Denmark.
