Retraction of: Agonism of β3-Adrenoceptors Inhibits Pathological Retinal Angiogenesis in the Model of Oxygen-Induced Retinopathy

PMCID: PMC12603957  PMID: 41201294

Retraction of: “Agonism of β3-Adrenoceptors Inhibits Pathological Retinal Angiogenesis in the Model of Oxygen-Induced Retinopathy” by Alberto Melecchi, Alessio Canovai, Rosario Amato, Massimo Dal Monte, Luca Filippi, Paola Bagnoli, and Maurizio Cammalleri (Invest Ophthalmol Vis Sci. 2024;65(10):34), https://doi.org/10.1167/iovs.65.10.34.

Upon receiving a complaint of image manipulation, the editors reviewed Supplementary Figure S1 from this paper. There is evidence of manipulation in panel C. Fabrication or inappropriate manipulation of an image to be used in an article is in violation of the ARVO Policy on Publication Ethics. When queried, the authors admitted to having created the artificial image, although they reported that this is commonly done in their lab and this preliminary version was accidentally included in the manuscript. Readers may draw their own conclusions about the intentions of the authors to include the manipulated image in their article, but the editors judge that its presence casts sufficient doubt on the credibility of the article to justify retraction.
