Following publication of the original article [1], the authors reported that an error had been made in the labels within Table 1 and that this would significantly affect the readers’ understanding of the methods.
They request a correction to Table 1 regarding when they measured the children’s ages at the different stages of the study.
Row 3 of Table 1 reads in the original as “Age at PLS-5 assessment” - it should be corrected to ‘Age at ELIM Assessment’.
Row 3 of Table 1 reads in the original as “Age at ELIM Assessment” - it should be corrected to ‘Age at Recruitment’.
To further clarify this they also request the addition of the following text – indicated in italics – to the method (This is in paragraph 3 of the methods on page 3)
Informed consent was obtained from all the study participants and their legal guardian/parents by the HV conducting the Study ELIM at the review, however the Study ELIM and Preschool Language Scale (PLS-5) were completed during separate meetings within 2 weeks of one another. Where consent was given the HV allocated the child a unique ID code to ensure anonymity and administered the Study ELIM.
