Abstract

Introduction

The prevalence of glioblastoma is increasing in Africa, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa, due to the development of diagnostic tools and the aging population. Management in these resource-limited countries sometimes faces difficulties.

Objective

To review the African literature related to the treatment and survival of patients with glioblastoma.

Method

We reviewed the relevant African literature in the PubMed database from 2010 to 2025.

Results

Thirteen articles were retained. Five came from sub-Saharan African countries and eight from North African countries. Treatment decisions are made in multidisciplinary consultation and are based on international guidelines. On average, 20% are lost to follow-up and do not complete additional treatment. The average median survival is 12 months.

Conclusion

The African literature on the management of glioblastoma is generally less extensive. However, the results are close to those of northern countries.
