Retraction for Mondal et al., IL-12 p40 monomer is different from other IL-12 family members to selectively inhibit IL-12Rβ1 internalization and suppress EAE

PMCID: PMC12798951  PMID: 41499413

Retraction for “IL-12 p40 monomer is different from other IL-12 family members to selectively inhibit IL-12Rβ1 internalization and suppress EAE,” by Susanta Mondal, Madhuchhanda Kundu, Malabendu Jana, Avik Roy, Suresh B. Rangasamy, Khushbu K. Modi, Jennillee Wallace, Yasmeen A. Albalawi, Roumen Balabanov, and Kalipada Pahan which was first published August 19, 2020; 10.1073/pnas.2000653117 (Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. U.S.A. 117, 21557–21567).

The undersigned authors note, “We are retracting this article due to the following concerns:

In Fig. 6 D and G the β-Actin blots appear to be the same blot stretched and flipped horizontally.

In SI Appendix, Fig. S8K, the rows representing 1 h and 2 h for MBP+IL-12 are apparently duplicated in SI Appendix, Fig. S9A rows representing 0 h and 2 h for MBP+p402.

In SI Appendix, Fig. S8L, the rows representing 1 h, 2 h, and 4 h for MBP+IL-12+p40 are apparently duplicated in SI Appendix, Fig. S9B rows representing 0 h, 2 h, and 4 h for MBP+p40=p402.

In Table 1, several data points in the p40 column appear to be duplicated in the p40 column in Table 1 in Kundu et al. 2017 [Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. U.S.A., 10.1073/pnas.1705536114 (2017)].

We believe a retraction is necessary to uphold the integrity of the scientific record.” The journal was unable to reach Suresh B. Rangasamy, Jennillee Wallace, and Roumen Balabanov.
