Dear Readers,
We extend a warm welcome to the readers of the Hawai‘i Journal of Health and Social Welfare. This supplemental issue includes original clinical research authored by medical students and resident physicians from the Department of Surgery of the University of Hawai‘i, John A. Burns School of Medicine. The articles in this issue encompass a broad range of surgical specialties and topics including orthopedic trauma surgery, breast surgery, hepatobiliary surgery, and colorectal surgery. These articles were selected from an array of research presented at the 2023 UH/JABSOM Department of Surgery Resident Research Competition.
Our special thanks go out to the many authors and reviewers who contributed to this supplemental issue. In addition, we want to thank Ms. Lori Bland, Ms. Naomi Gagabi, and Ms. Nicole Stenstrom for their tireless support.
