Ethical approval and consent to participate: Ethical approval was not required for this work. This was not deemed to be a qualitative research study but rather a report of a quality improvement evaluation. We reported feedback collected as part of the QIP process. The doctors who participated were aware that a report of this innovative foundation programme was being prepared and that their feedback might be incorporated into our article. They were also each given the opportunity to co-author the publication. Written consent was not required, and all data was anonymised.
