It gives me immense satisfaction to announce the publication of a significant volume by the Indian Psychiatric Society (IPS), presenting the January theme issue of Clinical Practice Guidelines: Update 2026. This landmark initiative strengthens our collective understanding of psychiatric care and enriches treatment strategies, thereby serving both professionals, and patients in addressing the complexities of mental health with greater clarity and confidence. The IPS clinical practice guidelines (CPG) Sub-Committee has prepared this guideline that will be formally released during ANCIPS 2026, New Delhi.
Over the years, the IPS CPG have come to be regarded as the gold standard within our country and have influenced practices across several developing nations. With the evolving challenges in psychiatry over the past decade, the need for updated, evidence-based guidance has become increasingly vital. This new edition reflects our commitment to addressing contemporary concerns and advancing the discipline.
The dedication and perseverance of the IPS CPG Sub-Committee in adhering to timelines and ensuring the highest standards of scholarship merit special appreciation. These guidelines will undoubtedly serve as a valuable resource for clinicians, postgraduate trainees, and researchers alike, furthering improved practices, and outcomes across the field of psychiatry.
