The Editors-in-Chief have retracted this article. After publication, concerns were raised regarding some of the data presented in the figures, specifically:
Figure 1 A NeuN Non-tg Vehicle and FK506 images appear to overlap;
Figure 1 C MAP2 gp120 tg Vehicle image appears highly similar to Fig. 5B MAP2 α-synuclein tg LV-control image in [1], which was submitted and published within a similar time frame (now retracted);
Figure 1E Synapto Non-tg FK506 and gp120 tg Vehicle images appear to overlap with different brightness;
Figure 5 A Calcineurin Non-tg Vehicle and gp120 tg FK506 images appear to overlap.
The authors have stated that incorrect images were selected while assembling the figures and shared partial original data. However, further checks by the Publisher found an additional case of potential overlap in the original data files. Due to the number of errors, the Editors-in-Chief no longer have confidence in the presented data.
Jerel A. Fields agrees with this retraction. Eliezer Masliah does not agree with this retraction. Edward Rockenstein is deceased. The other authors have not responded to any correspondence from the editor or publisher about this retraction.
