This article has been retracted at the request of the editor-in-chief. A reader communicated concerns to the editorial office. These concerns are also echoed in a Pubpeer thread (https://pubpeer.com/publications/1B4820234D1A16182CAAE1909FEA91) in which readers drew attention to similarities between the figures in this article and another article in this journal (Li et al., 2018, Mol. Ther. Nucleic Acids 12, https://doi.org/10.1016/j.omtn.2018.07.003). Image analysis performed by the editorial office revealed evidence of image duplication involving Figures 5G, 6C, and 8E of this Molecular Therapy Nucleic Acids article. This reuse of data without appropriate attribution represents a severe abuse of the scientific publishing system.
