Concerns were raised about the following figures in the article:

  • Figure 1 Panel C appears highly similar to Figure 2 Panel A1

  • Figure 2 Panel B appears highly similar to Figure 1 Panel B2

  • Figure 2 Panel F appears highly similar to Figure 3 Panel B3

  • Figure 2 Panel E appears highly similar to Figure 54

  • Figure 3 Panel A shows potential similarities within the image between beta-actin bands at different relative densities.

  • Figure 3 Panel D appears highly similar to Figure 1 Panel B4

The authors were contacted and given multiple opportunities to respond too; however, no response was received. Due to the unresolved concerns about image integrity, that call into question the validity of the findings, the Journal Editor and Sage retract the article.

The authors did not respond when notified of the retraction.
