In the above-named article by Nedungadi D, Ayodele Adesanya TM, Rayan MN, Zhao S, Williams A, Brock G, and Joseph JJ (J Clin Endo Metab. 2024; doi: 10.1210/clinem/dgae396), there were errors in the Abstract, Methods, Results, Table 1, and Table 2.
One participant’s data were determined after publication to include a data entry error, so statistics have been recalculated to exclude that participant. The change does not substantially change the study’s conclusions.
In the originally published article, in the Abstract, in Results, the first sentence read, “Among 3220 participants without diabetes at baseline, there were 554 incident cases over a median follow-up period of 7.5 years.” “3220” has been corrected to read “3219” and the sentence now reads, “Among 3219 participants without diabetes at baseline, there were 554 incident cases over a median follow-up period of 7.5 years.”
In the Methods section, under the subsection “Study Participants,” the last sentence read, “After these exclusions, 3220 participants were included, as shown in Supplementary Fig. S2 (30).” In the corrected article, and additional sentence was added and “3220” was corrected to “3219.” The corrected sentence now reads, “Additionally, one participant with a small WC (32cm) was removed from the analysis. After these exclusions, 3219 participants were included, as shown in Supplemental Figure 2 (30).”
In the Results section, under the subsection “Baseline Characteristics,” in the first paragraph, the second sentence read, “The average age of the participants was 53.2 years (SD 12.7) and 64% were females.” In the corrected article, “(SD 12.7) and 64%” has been corrected to “(SD 12.4) and 63%” and the sentence now reads, “The average age of the participants was 53.2 years (SD 12.4) and 63% were females.”
In the Results section, under the subsection “Baseline Characteristics,” in the second paragraph, the last sentence read, “a 1-unit increase in log-aldosterone was associated with 25.2% higher risk of diabetes, while holding WC and log-LAR at the mean (Table 2, model 3 among all the participants n = 3220).” In the corrected article, “25.2%” has been corrected to “25.1%” and “n = 3220” has been corrected to read “n = 3219.” The corrected sentence now reads, “a 1-unit increase in log-aldosterone was associated with 25.1% higher risk of diabetes, while holding WC and log-LAR at the mean (Table 2, model 3 among all the participants n = 3219).”
In the Results section, under the subsection “Baseline Characteristics,” in the third paragraph, the first sentence read, “The interaction of WC*log-aldosterone was significant (P = 0.046, Table 2 model 3, n = 3220), with hazard ratio of 0.992 (95% CI: (0.983, 1.000) but not for log-LAR*log aldosterone (P = .250).” In the corrected article, “P = 0.046” has been corrected to “P = 0.047,” “n = 3220” has been corrected to “n = 3219,” and “P = .250” has been corrected to “P = .372.” The corrected sentence now reads, “The interaction of WC*log-aldosterone was significant (P = 0.047, Table 2 model 3, n = 3219), with hazard ratio of 0.992 (95% CI: (0.983, 1.000) but not for log-LAR*log aldosterone (P = .372).”
In Table 1, the columns “1.9-2.5 (n = 793),” “2.6-4.2 (n = 814),” and “Total (n = 3220)” have been corrected to read, “1.9-2.4 (n = 792),” “2.5-4.2 (n=814),” and “Total (n = 3219).” In the row “Age, y,” under the row “p-value,” “.353” has been corrected to “.329.” In the row, “Sex (%),” under the column, “1.9-2.5 (n = 793),” “572 (72.1)” has been corrected to “572 (72.2).” In the row, “Sex (%),” sub row “Male,” “under the column, “1.9-2.5 (n = 793),” “221 (27.9)” has been corrected to “220 (27.8).” In the row, “Sex (%),” sub row, “Male,” under the column, “Total (n= 3220),” “1179 (36.5)” has been corrected to “1178 (36.6).” In the row, “Education, n (%),” under the column, “Total (n= 3220),” “1193 (37)” has been corrected to “1193 (37.1).” In the row, “Education, n (%),” under the column, “P value,” “.206” has been corrected to “.214.” In the row, “Education, n (%),” sub row “Other,” under the column, “1.9-2.5 (n = 793),” “522 (65.8)” has been corrected to “521 (65.8).” In the row, “Education, n (%),” sub row “Other,” under the column, “Total (n= 3220),” “2027 (63)” has been corrected to “2026 (62.9).” In the row, “Occupation, n (%),” under the column “P value,” “.421” has been corrected to “.432.” In the row, “Occupation, n (%),” sub row “Other,” under the column “1.9-2.5 (n = 793),” “499 (62.9)” has been corrected to “498 (62.9).” In the row, “Occupation, n (%),” sub row, “Other,” under the column, “Total (n= 3220),” “1961 (60.9)” has been corrected to “1960 (60.9).” In the row “Alcohol consumption, n (%), under the column, “P value,” “.024” has been corrected to “.0224.” In the row “Alcohol consumption, n (%), sub row “Yes,” under the column, “1.9-2.5 (n = 793),” “365 (46)” has been corrected to “364 (46).” In the row “Alcohol consumption, n (%), sub row “Yes,” under the column, “Total (n= 3220),” “1611 (50)” has been corrected to “1610 (50).” In the row, “Current smoking, n (%),” under the column, “1.9-2.5 (n = 793),” “691 (87.1)” has been corrected to “690 (87.1).” In the row, “Current smoking, n (%),” under the column, “Total (n= 3220),” “2836 (88.1)” has been corrected to “2835 (88.1).” In the row, “Current smoking, n (%),” under the column, “P value,” “.690” has been corrected to “.685.” In the row, “Physical activity, n (%),” under the column, “P value,” “.172” has been corrected to “.182.” In the row, “Physical activity, n (%),” sub row “Intermediate Health,” under the column, “1.9-2.5 (n = 793),” “288 (36.3)” has been corrected to “287 (36.2).” In the row, “Physical activity, n (%),” sub row “Intermediate Health,” under the column, “Total (n= 3220),” “1067 (33.1)” has been corrected to “1066 (33.1).” In the row, “Physical activity, n (%),” sub row “Poor Health,” under the column, “1.9-2.5 (n = 793),” “357 (45)” has been corrected to “357 (45.1).” In the row, “Dietary intake, n (%),” in the column “P value,” “.129” has been corrected to “.134” In the row, “Dietary intake, n (%),” sub row “Poor Health,” in the column, “1.9-2.5 (n = 793),” “532 (67.1)” has been corrected to “531 (67).” In the row, “Dietary intake, n (%),” sub row “Poor Health,” under the column, “Total (n= 3220),” “2048 (63.6)” has been corrected to “2047 (63.6).” In the row, “Waist circumference, cm,” under the column, “1.9-2.5 (n = 793),” “37.3 (67.1)” has been corrected to “97.4 (15.9).” In the row, “Adiponectin, ng/mL,” under the column, “1.9-2.5 (n = 793),” “4945.3 [3180.3, 7612.5]” has been corrected to “4944.8 [3175.3, 7562.7].” In the row, “Adiponectin, ng/mL,” under the column, “Total (n= 3220),” “4275.4 [2763.4, 6682.4]” has been corrected to “4274.2 [2762.5, 6681.7].” In the row, “Leptin, ng/mL,” under the column, “1.9-2.5 (n = 793),” “23.3 [10.1, 38.9]” has been corrected to “23.4 [10.1, 39].”
