Retraction of: Scientific Reports 10.1038/s41598-024-76483-x, published online 18 October 2024

The Editors have retracted this Article.

Following publication, concerns were raised about the validation methodology used to evaluate the machine-learning model. Independent assessment found that the reported high predictive performance relied on an inappropriate data-splitting approach for a time-dependent task, leading to overestimated accuracy. When proper chronological validation is applied, the results do not support the Article’s conclusions. As the Authors were unable to provide additional validation or data to resolve these issues, the Editors no longer have confidence in the reliability of the reported results.

Cemil Emre Yavas disagrees with the retraction. Lei Chen and Christopher Kadlec did not respond to the Editor’s correspondence about this retraction. The Editors were not able to confirm the current contact details for Yiming Ji.
