The original Study 2 included 6 pilot data and excluding these data has resulted in the following changes.
In the abstract, “two U.S. adult lifespan samples (n = 86/461)” should be “two U.S. adult lifespan samples (n = 86/455).”
In the section Study 2-Method-Sample, paragraph 1, line 3, when describing the sample details, “An additional 454 participants […]” should be “An additional 448 participants […].”
In the same section, paragraph 2, line 5, “The final hybrid dataset consisted of 461 participants aged 18–96 (M = 51.38, SD = 19.54, 52% female, 65% Non-Hispanic White)” should be “The final hybrid dataset consisted of 455 participants aged 18–96 (M = 51.67, SD = 19.45, 52% female, 65% Non-Hispanic White).”
In the section Study 2-Results-Hypothesis 1, paragraph 1, line 6, “[…] no significant associations with monetary demands were found for average past (τ = −0.03, p = 0.309) or future (τ = −0.02, p = 0.585) self-continuity” should be “[…] no significant associations with monetary demands were found for average past (τ = −0.03, p = 0.322) or future (τ = −0.02, p = 0.605) self-continuity.”
Moreover, in the same section, paragraph 2, line 5, “[…] demanding more money for a ten-year delay in payout was associated with significantly lower levels of future self-continuity (τ = −0.073, p = 0.030)” should be “[…] demanding more money for a ten-year delay in payout was associated with significantly lower levels of future self-continuity (τ = −0.072, p = 0.038).”
In the section Study 2-Results-Exploratory Analyses, paragraph 3, line 3, when reporting the associations between individual k-parameters, “[…] the individual k-parameters for temporal discounting were not significantly associated with the k-parameters for past self-continuity (τ = −0.02, p = 0.534) or future self-continuity (τ = 0.03, p = 0.301).” should be “[…] the individual k-parameters for temporal discounting were not significantly associated with the k-parameters for past self-continuity (τ = −0.02, p = 0.531) or future self-continuity (τ = 0.03, p = 0.327).”
In the same paragraph, line 9, when reporting the associations between q-parameters, “Results revealed no significant correlations between the q parameters of temporal discounting and q parameters of either past (τ = 0.04, p = 0.351) or future self-continuity (τ = 0.03, p = 0.168).” should be “Results revealed no significant correlations between the q parameters of temporal discounting and q parameters of either past (τ = 0.04, p = 0.197) or future self-continuity (τ = 0.03, p = 0.381).”

In the section Study 2-Results-Exploratory Analyses, paragraph 4, line 5, when discussing additional correlation tests, “Results revealed moderate negative correlations between the average levels and q-exponential k parameters of both past (τ = −0.409, p < 0.001) and future self-continuity (τ = −0.421, p < 0.001)” should be “Results revealed moderate negative correlations between the average levels and q-exponential k parameters of both past (τ = −0.405, p < 0.001) and future self-continuity (τ = −0.418, p < 0.001).”
In the same paragraph, line 8, “[…] higher average amount demanded to delay the payout was moderately associated with steeper temporal discounting (τ = 0.449, p < 0.001)” should be “[…] higher average amount demanded to delay the payout was moderately associated with steeper temporal discounting (τ = 0.448, p < 0.001).”
We have also made corresponding changes regarding Study 2 in our Tables 1–4 and Fig. 1, and the correct versions are attached below.
