The authors regret the presence of a minor typographical error in the legend to Fig. 5. This currently reads:

‘Fig. 5. Modifications of C79 (A) and C239 (B) in the GFAP mutant isoforms R79C and R239C, respectively. Left, middle and right panels show occupancy for the alkylated (+57 Da), sulfinic acid (+32 Da) and sulfonic acid (+48 Da) forms of C294, respectively. The occupancy values for the modified forms of the peptide were calculated as outlined in the Materials and Methods.’

The corrected legend should read:

‘Fig. 5. Modifications of C79 (A) and C239 (B) in the GFAP mutant isoforms R79C and R239C, respectively. Left, middle and right panels show occupancy for the alkylated (+57 Da), sulfinic acid (+32 Da) and sulfonic acid (+48 Da) forms, respectively. The occupancy values for the modified forms of the peptide were calculated as outlined in the Materials and Methods.’

The authors would like to apologise for the presence of the short section of extra text. We regret any confusion or inconvenience caused by this error which does not impact on the overall data or its interpretation.
