Correction to “Emergency Department Crowding and Diagnostic Safety: An Underrecognized Risk to Clinical Decision Making”

PMCID: PMC13320486  PMID: 42388904

Sangtani R. Emergency Department Crowding and Diagnostic Safety: An Underrecognized Risk to Clinical Decision Making. J Am Coll Emerg Physicians Open. 2026;7(3):100403. Published 2026 Apr 21. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.acepjo.2026.100403.

Upon review, I have identified that one reference contained inaccurate bibliographic details resulting from an error during manuscript preparation process. Specifically, Reference citation 3 (listed as: Pines JM, Hollander JE, Localio AR, Metlay JP. The association between emergency department crowding and preventable medical errors. Ann Emerg Med. 2011;58(3):225-232) does not accurately correspond to a validated indexed publication in the form presented in the manuscript. I sincerely apologize for this oversight. There was no intention to include fabricated or misleading references. I understand the importance of accurate citation practices and take full responsibility for the error.

The correct indexed citation for reference 3 is: Epstein SK, Huckins DS, Liu SW, et al. Emergency department crowding and risk of preventable medical errors. Intern Emerg Med. 2012;7(2):173-180. https://doi.org/10.1007/s11739-011-0702-8.
