Correction to “Reference Values for the Haemophilia Joint Health Score in Patients With Severe Haemophilia Derived From the Canadian Bleeding Disorder Registry”

PMCID: PMC13378708  PMID: 42306925

K. T. Nguyen, A. K. C. Chan, D. Matino, E. Iserman, A. Keepanasseril, K. Strike. “Reference Values for the Haemophilia Joint Health Score in Patients With Severe Haemophilia Derived From the Canadian Bleeding Disorder Registry,” Haemophilia. 32, no. 2 (2026): 534‐542. https://doi.org/10.1111/hae.70205

In Tables 2 and 3 of the results, age‐specific reference values were not appropriately back transformed based on the adjustment for model development (adding 1 to the HJHS score upon model development; then subtracting 1 for back transformation for interpretation). The tables presently read as follows:

Table 2 Age‐specific reference values for Haemophilia Joint Health Scores (HJHS) in individuals with severe Haemophilia A or B, ages 4–18 years.

Age 5th 10th 25th 50th 75th 90th 95th
4 0 1 1 2 3 5 6
6 0 1 1 2 3 6 8
8 0 1 1 2 4 7 10
10 0 1 1 3 5 9 13
12 0 1 2 3 6 11 16
14 1 1 2 4 7 13 20
16 1 1 2 4 8 16 24
18 1 1 2 5 10 19 29

Reference values for HJHS scores are presented at the 5th, 10th, 25th, 50th, 75th, 90th, and 95th percentiles for individuals with severe haemophilia aged 4–18 years. Higher HJHS scores indicate worse joint health. For a given age and HJHS score, the corresponding percentile reflects the proportion of age‐matched individuals with better joint health (i.e., lower scores).

Table 3 Age‐specific reference values for Haemophilia Joint Health Scores (HJHS) in individuals with severe Haemophilia A or B, ages 20–70 years.

Age 5th 10th 25th 50th 75th 90th 95th
20 1 1 3 6 12 23 34
25 1 2 4 8 16 31 46
30 2 4 6 12 21 36 51
35 5 7 10 17 26 40 52
40 8 11 15 22 32 45 56
45 12 15 20 28 39 53 64
50 15 18 25 34 46 61 73
55 17 21 28 38 51 68 82
60 18 22 30 41 56 74 89
65 20 24 32 44 59 78 94
70 22 26 35 47 63 82 98

Reference values for HJHS scores are presented at the 5th, 10th, 25th, 50th, 75th, 90th, and 95th percentiles for individuals with severe haemophilia aged 20–70 years. Higher HJHS scores indicate worse joint health. For a given age and HJHS score, the corresponding percentile reflects the proportion of age‐matched individuals with better joint health (i.e., lower scores).

The updated tables have accommodated for the back transformation by subtracting 1 to each HJHS score. The tables should be presented as follows:

Table 2. Age‐specific reference values for Haemophilia Joint Health Scores (HJHS) in individuals with severe Haemophilia A or B, ages 4–18 years.

Age 5th 10th 25th 50th 75th 90th 95th
4 0 0 0 1 2 4 5
6 0 0 0 1 2 5 7
8 0 0 0 1 3 6 9
10 0 0 0 2 4 8 12
12 0 0 1 2 5 10 15
14 0 0 1 3 6 12 19
16 0 0 1 3 7 15 23
18 0 0 1 4 9 18 28

Reference values for HJHS scores are presented at the 5th, 10th, 25th, 50th, 75th, 90th, and 95th percentiles for individuals with severe haemophilia aged 4–18 years. Higher HJHS scores indicate worse joint health. For a given age and HJHS score, the corresponding percentile reflects the proportion of age‐matched individuals with better joint health (i.e., lower scores).

Table 3. Age‐specific reference values for Haemophilia Joint Health Scores (HJHS) in individuals with severe Haemophilia A or B, ages 20–70 years.

Age 5th 10th 25th 50th 75th 90th 95th
20 0 0 2 5 11 22 33
25 0 1 3 7 15 30 45
30 1 3 5 11 20 35 50
35 4 6 9 16 25 39 51
40 7 10 14 21 31 44 55
45 11 14 19 27 38 52 63
50 14 17 24 33 45 60 72
55 16 20 27 37 50 67 81
60 17 21 29 40 55 73 88
65 19 23 31 43 58 77 93
70 21 25 34 46 62 81 97

Reference values for HJHS scores are presented at the 5th, 10th, 25th, 50th, 75th, 90th, and 95th percentiles for individuals with severe haemophilia aged 20–70 years. Higher HJHS scores indicate worse joint health. For a given age and HJHS score, the corresponding percentile reflects the proportion of age‐matched individuals with better joint health (i.e., lower scores).

Additionally, given this change, our example of interpreting the reference values in paragraph 8 of the discussion section that reads “For example, a 14‐year‐old patient with severe Haemophilia A and an HJHS score of 7 would fall at the 75th percentile, indicating worse joint health than 75% of their age‐matched peers.”, should be updated to “For example, a 14‐year‐old patient with severe Haemophilia A and an HJHS score of 6 would fall at the 75th percentile, indicating worse joint health than 75% of their age‐matched peers.”

We apologize for this error and any inconvenience this may have caused.
