The use of surgical staplers has become commonplace in colorectal anastomoses, and staple line intersections from double stapling techniques have been associated with anastomotic leakage. This video correspondence illustrates a novel method to imbricate the linear staple line so that it can be excised by the circular stapler, avoiding potential contamination from conventional rectotomy‐pursestring single‐stapling techniques. It will demonstrate the technique in a robotic‐assisted laparoscopic case of a high anterior resection, accompanied by an easy‐to‐follow diagrammatic illustration of each step, with tips on how to perfect each step. We discuss the limitations of the proposed technique and how to overcome them. In doing so, we aim to share this useful new skill as an alternative to purse‐string methods for achieving a single‐stapled colorectal anastomosis (Video 1).
