The authors of this article from the July 2024 issue of the European Respiratory Review would like to correct an error in figure 1. In the original figure 1a, the markers indicating mild/moderate exacerbation and severe exacerbation/hospitalisation were inadvertently swapped in relation to the magnitude of lung function decline shown in the schematic representation. The figure has been corrected by inverting these markers so that: 1) mild/moderate exacerbations correspond to the smaller declines in lung function; and 2) severe exacerbations/hospitalisation correspond to the more pronounced declines.
