Table 7. Proposed minimum-reporting framework for the natural coloration of nylon/polyamide textiles.

SI Reporting domain Minimum information to be reported
1 Nylon/polyamide substrate Nylon grade (e.g., PA6, PA66, and PA56), pure or blended composition, fabric/yarn form, construction, areal density or yarn specification, and pretreatment
2 Natural colorant/extract Biological source and source part, extraction method and conditions, extract yield, dosage basis, and, where feasible, marker-compound concentration, pigment purity, or UV-vis/HPLC/LC-MS fingerprint
3 Dyeing and fixation process Dye concentration, pH, temperature, time, liquor ratio, mordant/biomordant type and dosage, auxiliary chemicals, and relevant pretreatment or process-intensification conditions
4 Coloration, fastness, and functionality K/S measurement conditions and CIELAB data should be reported together with the exact test standard and its edition/year. For greater harmonization, ISO 105-C06 is recommended as the reference method for washing fastness, ISO 105-X12 for rubbing fastness, ISO 105-B02 for light fastness, and ISO 105-E04 for perspiration fastness. AATCC TM100 is recommended for quantitative antibacterial assessment and AATCC TM183 for UPF measurement. Antioxidant and other functional assays for which a single textile-specific reference method is not consistently established should include the complete assay procedure, endpoint, and calculation method
5 Experimental reliability Number of replicates, variability or error measures, statistical analysis where appropriate, controls/comparators, and sufficient raw process conditions to permit reproducibility
6 Environmental performance For studies making cleaner or sustainability claims, relevant water and energy information, effluent pH/color, COD/BOD, residual metals, solvents, oxidants/reductants or other process-specific residues, toxicity, and dyebath reuse or recovery information should be reported where applicable
