We, the Editors and Publisher of the International Journal of Nanomedicine, have retracted the published article.

After publication, concerns have been raised by a third party in 2024 about the integrity of the data in Figure 9 of the article.

Further investigation conducted by the Journal and Publisher confirmed unexpected overlaps in Figure 9 of the article with Figures 13 of the authors’ previous publications that are representative of different samples and treatment conditions:

Gurunathan S, Han JW, Park JH, Kim E, Choi YJ, Kwon DN, Kim JH. Reduced graphene oxide–silver nanoparticle nanocomposite: a potential anticancer nanotherapy. International Journal of Nanomedicine. 2015;10:6257–6276. https://doi.org/10.2147/IJN.S92449

Gurunathan S, Kim E, Han JW, Park JH, Kim JH. Green Chemistry Approach for Synthesis of Effective Anticancer Palladium Nanoparticles.  Molecules. 2015;20:22476–22498. https://doi.org/10.3390/molecules201219860

When approached for an explanation, the authors responded, but due to the time that has elapsed since the experiments were conducted, the raw data for this figure is unavailable, and as a result, these concerns cannot be addressed.

As verifying the validity of published work is core to the integrity of the scholarly record, we are therefore retracting the article. The corresponding author listed in this publication has been informed.

We have been informed in our decision-making by our editorial policies and the COPE guidelines.

The retracted article will remain online to maintain the scholarly record, but it will be digitally watermarked on each page as ‘Retracted’.
