The authors wish to correct the following errors in the published article.

In the Results section, under “WGS data quality and pre-processing”, the sentence:

“Four isolates from parent stock faeces from batch 2 were included for WGS were identified by the MALDI-TOF MS as E. fergusonii, a closely related species to E. coli.” should read:

“Four isolates from parent stock faeces from batch 4 were included for WGS were identified by the MALDI-TOF MS as E. fergusonii, a closely related species to E. coli.”

In the caption of Table 4, the text:

“Genetic background of fluoroquinolone resistance in E. coli through WGS, given per origin isolate (PS = Parent stock; EN = environment hatchery; DC = day-old chicks).” should read:

“Genetic background of fluoroquinolone resistance in E. coli and E. fergusonii through WGS, given per origin isolate (PS = Parent stock; EN = environment hatchery; DC = day-old chicks).”

In addition, Figure 2 contained incorrect annotations for the variable “origin”. The published figure should be replaced with the corrected version provided below.
