A CLASSIFICATION OF DIPHTHERIA BACILLI BASED ON THE TOLUIDIN BLUE-IODINE METHOD OF STAINING

Abstract

Differential diagnosis of diphtheria bacilli has always been puzzling. This author discusses a special staining process which develops granules or bars, not visible with other stains. The new morphology affords criteria for determining non-virulent forms of bacilli. The author suggests and illustrates a convenient classification.
