In the original version of this article, table 2 citation should have read as ‘shown in Table 2’ instead of ‘shown in Table 2, Textbox 1’ in the first paragraph of the introduction section.

Table 2.

Dietary reference valuesa and supplementation recommendation for vitamin D from the Health Council of the Netherlands [3–5]

Girls/women 4–50 yrs

Boys/men 4–70 yrs
Women 50–70 yrs 10 10

Pregnant women 10 10

yrs = years

aThe dietary reference values for vitamin D include vitamin D intake from food and supplements, and vitamin D intake coming from exposure to sunlight. For children and adults aged 4 to 50 (women) or 70 (men) years old with a fair skin colour, exposure to sunlight covers roughly two-thirds of the daily requirement throughout the year. Adequate exposure to sunlight is defined as 15–30 min of daily exposure to sunlight between 11.00 AM-3.00 PM with head and hands uncovered. For supplement use, vitamin D3 is preferred, as it has been shown to be more effective than vitamin D2 [3]

bFor individuals with fair skin colour and adequate exposure to sunlight there is no supplementation recommendation (0 µg/d). Individuals with fair skin colour and inadequate exposure to sunlight or a dark skin colour the supplementation recommendation is 10 µg/d. Skin colour is defined with the Fitzpatrick classification where types I, II and III are defined as fair skin colours and types IV, V and VI are defined as dark skin colours [9]

The Table 2 and textbox 1 were appeared separately and now both have been replaced with correct Table 2. The Table 2, which previously appeared as
