Abstract

We show that the age distribution tends to a limit for each population of cells that die or divide according to continuous age-dependent schedules. This limiting distribution is independent of the initial age distribution. Explicit formulas are given for the limiting age distributions and for all stationary age distributions. Nonstationary behavior periodic in time is impossible.
