Interaction of pentagastrin and the octapeptide of cholecystokinin on the human lower oesophageal sphincter

Abstract

The intravenous infusion of the octapeptide of cholecystokinin inhibited the response of the lower oesophageal sphincter to graded doses of pentagastrin in normal men. The possibility that the effects of these peptides on the lower oesophageal sphincter are only pharmacological and not physiological is discussed.
