Abstract
Synovial fluid lymphocytes from patients with rheumatoid arthritis were effectively stimulated by B cell mitogens, such as pokeweed mitogen (PWM) and lipopolysaccharides (LPS), but their response to T cell mitogen, phytohaemagglutinin (PHA), was poor and no stimulation was observed in the presence of specific antigens, purified protein derivative (PPD) or Veillonella alcalescens sonicate.
