Consultant radiologist Middlesbrough (b 1953; q Aberdeen 1979; FRCR), died from a heart attack on 15 October 2005.

Guillaume Lam Shang Leen was universally known to his friends, colleagues, and patients as Bill Leen. Born in Mauritius, he was educated at the Royal College Port Louis. After preregistration posts in Aberdeen he had a brief foray into obstetrics and gynaecology. He trained in radiology in Newcastle and was appointed consultant radiologist in Middlesbrough in 1990, rapidly developing a justified reputation as an interventionalist. He established an enviable and superb vascular radiology service at the James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough. He leaves a wife and three daughters.
