Consultant ophthalmologist Queen Margaret Hospital, Dunfermline (b 1964; q Glasgow 1986; FRCS Ed), d 18 April 2006.
Figure 1.
After house jobs in Stirling and Glasgow Andrew Barr (“Andy”) pursued a career in ophthalmology, training in Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Dundee. He was appointed consultant ophthalmologist with an interest in paediatric ophthalmology at the Queen Margaret Hospital, Dunfermline, in 1995. Andy was an excellent yachtsman and all round sportsman. He infamously ran the Glasgow marathon as a medical student with minimal training and could barely walk for 48 hours afterwards. Sadly, he did not appreciate how talented and valued he was and died suddenly after a long depressive illness. He leaves a wife, Anne, and a daughter.
