Abstract
Human lymphocytes stimulated into mitosis by the non-specific mitogen Concanavalin A (Con A) produce a factor stimulating fresh lymphocytes. Sephadex G-50 treatment was used successfully to remove residual Con A activity from the culture supernatants. The time courses of the responses of both autologous and allogeneic lymphocytes to the factor were similar. All normal lymphocyte preparations tested responded to factor whilst the cells of one of four patients with chronic lymphocytic leukaemia did not respond.
