Comparison of in vitro effects of anti-skin serum with antilymphocyte serum

Abstract

A comparative in vitro study of anti-rat skin sera and anti-rat lymphocyte sera (ALS) produced in donkeys was performed. Both antisera had similar cytotoxic effects upon rat lymphocytes. The anti-skin sera differed from the ALS in that they did not suppress blast transformation induced by either phytohaemagglutinin, Concanavalin A or lipopolysaccharide. The anti-skin sera also differed from ALS as they did not significantly reduce rosette formation between immunized rat spleen cells and sheep erythrocytes.
