The genetic basis of autoimmunity in NZB mice studied by progeny-testing

Abstract

NZB mice were mated to NZW and to Balb/c, and the F1, F2 and backcross progeny tested for the incidence of red-cell autoantibodies, glomerulonephritis, and anti-nuclear antibodies. Evidence was found for some segregation of these autoimmune characteristics, and the results were interpreted as favouring an underlying genetic basis, though not a simple one.
