Patient 5. Haematoxylin and eosin stain. (A) No evidence of myocardial inflammation. Immunohistochemical staining for CD45 (B) showed the presence of leucocytes in the myocardium. (C) Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) performed on endomyocardial biopsy. The products were detected by ethidium bromide staining of 3% agarose gel.
