Rectal compliance in control subjects (CS) and in those with rectal hypersensitivity (RH) and normal rectal sensation (NS). Compliance of 12 patients with RH and three with NS lay outside the normal range (broken line: 8.6–19.1 ml/mm Hg (mean (2SD)).
