A bridge over troubled waters

In the opening paragraph of this Review of the week by Piyal Sen (BMJ 2007;334:372, 17 Feb, doi: 10.1136/bmj.39114.462674.59), we have inflated by a factor of 10 the number of people who have killed themselves by jumping from the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco since it opened in 1937. The correct number is nearer to 1300.
