After serving in the Royal Army Medical Corps, where he took an interest in flying and saw action in the Middle East, Geoffrey specialised in occupational medicine, subsequently working for the National Coal Board and then both the Ministry of Defence and the Department of Health and the police. He was a keen member of the Territorial Army, serving a double term as honorary colonel to the field ambulance he had commanded. He had a very active role in a multitude of charitable organisations in which he held high office and was well known and loved as a tireless organiser, raconteur, and bon viveur. He leaves a wife, Avril.
