The authors of the article “New Trends in Breast Cancer Management: Is the Era of Immediate Breast Reconstruction Changing?” (Annals of Surgery 2006;244:282-288) apologize for omitting to reference “delayed-immediate breast reconstruction” as an important work developed and published by Kronowitz, et al.1,2 Delayed-immediate breast reconstruction is a two-stage approach to breast reconstruction in patients who are considered preoperatively to be at an increased risk of requiring postmastectomy radiation therapy.
