Former general practitioner Corby, Northamptonshire (b Rosslare, Ireland, 1922; q University College Cork 1946; DPH, DCH), died from heart failure on 10 July 2003.

After postgraduate degrees in Dublin, he came to England, setting up a practice in Corby in 1959. He was a keen supporter of the NHS and worked hard until full retirement at the age of 70. He was a big man and an excellent dancer, and he enjoyed history, following rugby, the countryside, and travel. Predeceased by his wife, Eileen, he leaves two sons and three grandchildren.
