Former senior medical officer Community Health Department Norwich Health District (b Manchester 1912; q Manchester 1941; DPH, MFCM), d 29 December 2002.
After qualification, Lydia spent five years in general practice before joining Manchester City Public Health Department. She left in 1961 to take up an appointment with Lancashire County Council, having obtained a DPH. She joined Norwich City Council in 1963 and was appointed to Norfolk County Council in 1965 as a district medical officer of health, and county departmental medical officer until re-organisation in 1974. She was awarded a Queen's Jubilee Medal and retired in 1977. Her husband, Victor Scarff, predeceased her.
