Former general practitioner Brandon, Suffolk (b Erdington 1935; q St Mary's Hospital, London, 1958; DTPH), died from metastatic squamous cell carcinoma on 6 August 2003.

John Perry served as a government medical officer in Kenya from 1959 to 1962 and was a general practitioner in Kent before emigrating to Swaziland in 1968. He entered private practice before moving to Rhodesia as a district medical officer (and later medical superintendent) in the government health department. During this period he saw active service with the Rhodesian Army Medical Corps. He returned to the UK in 1978 and practised in Brandon until his retirement as senior partner in 1996. He leaves a wife, Elaine; four children; and 10 grandchildren.
