Abstract
Carotid arteries of anaesthetized rabbits were perfused with neuraminidase to remove sialic acids from the endothelial surface. This resulted in significant accelerations of the uptake of low-density lipoproteins and of fibrinogen but not of albumin from the circulating blood.
