BIOPHYSICS, CHEMISTRY. For the article “Destruction of long-range interactions by a single mutation in lysozyme,” by Ruhong Zhou, Maria Eleftheriou, Ajay K. Royyuru, and Bruce J. Berne, which appeared in issue 14, April 3, 2007, of Proc Natl Acad Sci USA (104:5824–5829; first published March 26, 2007; 10.1073/pnas.0701249104), the authors note that on page 5829, right column, first full paragraph, beginning on line 7, the sentence “Eight Cl− counter ions were then added to neutralize the solvated system, giving a total system size of ≈40,000 atoms” should instead read: “Eight Cl− counter ions for pH = 7 and 18 Cl− counter ions for pH = 2 (ASP, GLU, and HIS residues are protonated), respectively, were then added to neutralize the solvated systems, giving a total system size of ≈40,000 atoms.” This error does not affect the conclusions of the article.
