Coexpression of GRIP1 in yeast modulates the effects of single and dual cognate ligands on RARα/RXRα heterodimer. Yeast transformants expressing RARα and/or RXRα either alone or with GRIP1 and containing β-gal reporters with either βRARE × 2 (Top) or βRARE × 1 (Middle) as RARE or ApoA1 × 1 (Bottom) enhancer elements were grown for 16 hr in the presence of no ligand (open bars), 1 μM at-RA (shaded bars), 1 μM 9c-RA (cross-hatched bars), or 1 μM at-RA + 1 μM 9c-RA (solid bars).
