Roger Wesley Glenn

Beryl Glenn
PMCID: PMC2071986

On completion of his house officer posts, Roger Wesley Glenn joined the Royal Army Medical Corps as a national service officer. He was posted to Hong Kong, where he cared for service families and where he met his future wife, a serving QARANC nursing sister.

He was called home on the death of his father in 1951 to take over his father's practice. (His father, Cecil, qualified at Guy's and had been in practice in Haywards Heath since 1906.)

Roger was a keen rotarian since 1967, a supporter of many local charities, and a keen golfer.

He went to Romania on his retirement in 1988 with a medical team to examine the needs of children in an orphanage—a rewarding but shattering experience.

He was a well loved general practitioner and leaves a wife, Beryl, four children, nine grandchildren, and one great grandson.

Former general practitioner Haywards Heath (b 14 July 1925; q Guy's Hospital, London, 1949), died from a malignant brain tumour on 13 August 2007.
