Abstract

The effect of a low oral infection dose (102 organisms) of Salmonella panama on the morphology of the gastrointestinal tract, ileocaecal lymph node and spleen was studied in germ-free mice.

A description of the histopathological findings during the early stages of infection (24 hr) is given. A close relationship was found between the bacteriological and microscopical observations in the tissues studied.
