Abstract
Data are presented in this paper which show that endotoxin stimulated nonspecific resistance of mice to bacterial infections is not lost when the animals become tolerant to endotoxin and in some cases can be increased as the animals become more tolerant to endotoxin. Experiments are also presented which suggest that the specific antibodies to endotoxin that develop in the serum of tolerant animals may be unimportant in the development of the tolerance or in the enhancement of the nonspecific resistance.
