General practitioner Pontarddulais, Swansea (b 1953; q Cardiff 1982; BSc, MRCGP), died from a subarachnoid haemorrhage following the elective embolisation of an intracranial aneurysm on 26 July 2003.

Marion started a postgraduate teacher training course before deciding that her future lay in medicine. After qualification, she worked in a number of hospitals in south Wales, undertaking her general practice training around Pontypridd. In 1989 Marion and her family moved to a smallholding in the village of Llanedi. Shortly afterwards, she was taken on as the first female partner in a local practice. She leaves a husband and three children.
