Abstract

This article describes the physiology of miction and the diagnostic and therapeutic aspects of urinary incontinence. Family physicians have a major role to play in diagnosing incontinence and helping to break the isolation of incontinent patients. Part II of this article will be published in the May 1991 issue under the heading. Clinical Practice.
