Glycosylated Hemoglobins: A Review

Amin A Nanji, Morris R Pudek
PMCID: PMC2153804  PMID: 21283353

Abstract

The glycosylated hemoglobins are becoming accepted as a measure of longterm glycemic control in diabetes mellitus. The present review discusses the biochemistry and clinical studies in diabetes which relate glycosylated hemoglobin to screening, control and development of longterm complications. Other causes of increased glycosylated hemoglobin are also discussed.
